Statement of Purpose

Home 2 Home is a semi-independent unit for young adults aged 16-18, our purpose is to provide a safe and supportive environment that fosters personal growth, independence, and self-sufficiency. We understand that this is a critical time in the lives of our residents, as they are on the cusp of adulthood and facing a range of challenges and opportunities. Our program is designed to offer the guidance and resources necessary to help them navigate this transition successfully.

The unit is immaculately presented 3-bedroom terraced house located off Green Street in Enfield Highway, within approx. 0.5 miles of Brimsdown BR station (serving London Liverpool Street) and close to local schools, Durant’s Park, and the Hertford Road.  The internal property provides support for two young adults, Features include: double glazing, gas central heating, lounge, kitchen dinner leading to a large rear garden. To the 1st floor there is three bedrooms two of which accommodates the young adults. The property also has off street parking for two cars.

At our semi-independent unit, we believe that every young adult deserves the opportunity to thrive and succeed, regardless of their background or circumstances. We provide guidance and support in areas such as education, employment, life skills, and emotional well-being. Our team of experienced professionals is dedicated to helping our residents achieve their goals and reach their full potential.

Education is a critical component of our program, as we believe that it is the foundation for success in life. We work closely with our residents to ensure that they are enrolled in an appropriate educational program, whether that be sixth form, vocational training, or college. We provide tutoring and academic support as needed and encourage our residents to take an active role in their own learning.

Employment is another important area of focus for our program. We understand that many of our residents may have limited work experience, and we are committed to helping them develop the skills and confidence necessary to succeed in the workforce. We provide job training, resume building, and interview preparation, and work closely with local employers to help our residents find meaningful employment opportunities.

Life skills are also a critical component of our program. We believe that our residents should be equipped with the practical skills necessary to live independently and successfully. We provide guidance and support in areas such as budgeting, cooking, cleaning, and time management, and work closely with our residents to help them develop the skills necessary to manage their own lives.

Emotional well-being is another important area of focus for our program. We understand that many of our residents may have experienced trauma or other challenges in their lives, and we are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment where they can heal and grow. We provide counselling and therapy services as needed, and work closely with our residents to help them develop the emotional resilience necessary to succeed in life.

Ultimately, our goal is to prepare our residents for a successful and fulfilling life beyond our program. We believe that with the right support and guidance, every young adult has the potential to achieve their dreams and make a positive impact on the world. We are committed to helping our residents develop the skills and confidence necessary to succeed, and to creating a community where they feel valued, supported, and empowered.

Aims and objectives

The following are the specific aims and objectives of our unit: –

1. To promote personal growth: The program aims to help young adults develop their personal skills, including communication, problem-solving, and decision-making. The program provides opportunities for young adults to explore their interests and passions, and to develop their talents and abilities.

2. To foster independence: The program aims to help young adults become self-sufficient and independent. The program provides guidance and support in areas such as education, employment, life skills, and emotional well-being. Staff Recruitment and Vetting

All staff are recruited through careful and thorough selection and vetting procedures, designed to protect service users, and achieve appropriate competencies and balance in the staff group. Recruitment procedures will ensure that those appointed are of good character, and have the necessary qualifications, skills, and experience.

Selection and vetting procedures for the selection and recruitment of our workers will be carried out in accordance with current legislative and good practice guidance. This includes a requirement for the person to be physically able of doing the job.

Home2Home is committed in the compliance with statutory obligations imposed by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the Police Act 1997 and, as appropriate, committed to compliance with statutory obligations imposed by the Equality Act 2010. Where there is doubt over the application of employment legislation, guidance will be sought.

All staff are required to evidence all satisfactory checks as set out in Schedule 3 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2010.
Relevant checks are undertaken on probable employees, inclusive of Disclosure and Barring Service, reference, and health checks. No member of staff will take up employment within Home2Home until all checks required in the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2010 are completed and satisfactory.

Prospective employees must produce evidence of identification, including a recent photograph, and of current registration and right to work in the UK (if applicable.)
Temporary, agency, bank and voluntary staff, and any practitioner working under practising privileges, are subject to the same level of checks and a similar selection criterion as staff recruited directly. Staff provided by an agency service are known to be fit and physically able to perform their role through confirmation in writing from the agency that all necessary checks have been carried out in relation to each staff member being supplied.

The management have in place systems for recruiting staff, which include an effective system to decide on appointment, or refusal of appointment, of staff or others likely to have regular contact with service users at the service, in light of any criminal convictions or other concerns about suitability that are declared or discovered through the recruitment process.

Proof of qualifications of employees will be ascertained before the person is confirmed in post.

Satisfactory explanations will be sought in respect of gaps in the record of education and employment and other discrepancies in application forms before appointments are offered.

The Management Team have provided clear policy and procedural guidance for assessing and supporting staff during their probationary period, identifying staff who should not be confirmed in post, and ensuring that appropriate notifications are made.

Home 2 Home (UK) Limited is founded and established by our Director, Diallo Hasmat-Ali who has over 18 years of working in residential care, local authorities front line child protection, looked after children, foster care, safeguarding. In addition to the above Diallo has worked with young adults and children across all spectrums and different care levels.
Diallo Hasmat-Ali’s’ career has been built on pursuing the welfare and protection of children within social care within the Local authorities of Luton, Hackney & Hertfordshire.
Diallo Hasmat-Ali has completed his training on the regulatory and inspection frameworks of Responsible Individual leadership and management course and is also trained as one of the Designated Safeguarding Lead. As well as this Diallo is also trained in dealing with trauma care including that of self-harm, child exploitation including that of county lines and gangs.
